Bessanese's Tour
The Arnas's lake (2590 m)
The alpine tarns of Arnas have been created by the accumulation of meltwater in the bowls carved out by glaciers and snowfields encompassing the “Crot of Ciaussiné“. Although these aren't located along the track of the Bessanese's tour, yet can be approached , making a slight diversion of about 10 min , by sloping down towards the Arnas plateau along the left hand side trail that will be met , once the Gastandi refuge has been hiked by .These tarns are indeed located in a breathtaking high mountain environment dominated by the imposing size of the Bessanese mountain (3604 m) . The Gastaldi refuge is also to be found nearby lying in a dominant position in respect to the little lakes; it's deemed to be one on the CAI's oldest refuges and the likely most visited one in the Lanzo's valleys . Please note that the refuge was blazed down by nazi-fascists on october 1944 ,whereas the partisans were compelled to fall back into France through the near “ Col d'Arnas”.
Quite interesting from a landscaping viewpoint the climbing that features a stunning panorama of the high “ Val d'Ala “ and impressively on the “Uia of Ciamarella “ (3676 m) that is recognized as the highest crest of the Lanzo's valleys.
