"Della Rossa" lake (2718 m)
The "Della Rossa" lake is an artificial lake, constructed by man to preserve a significant quantity of water to be used as a main resource by the means of a dam. It is the widest man made lake in the Valleys of Lanzo. It already existed before the construction of the dam (end years '20 - beginning years'30) as a big natural water bowl, smaller than the actual lake. This water reservoir was built concurrently to others dammed lakes i.e. : the "Dietro la Torre" Lake (below to the "Della Rossa" Lake) and the lake of Malciaussia ( in the upper valley of Viu').The hiking trail that leads to the lake of the Redhead is highly overcrowded during the Saint Camillo celebration on the first saturday of august . The fatigue of a long hike is well compensated by the breathtaking and stunning views offered by the most notable and prominent mountain peaks . Another spectacular view is offered by the iced lake when starts melting upon the arrival of the warm season and little floating icebergs can be noticed. Very close to the lake stands a tiny chapel dedicated to saint Camillo and its homonynic hut . Please find herewith attached a few images referred to the "Della Rossa" lake and the other lakes along the trail of the Bessanese's tour .
